How ligitamit is the continental kennel club?
We purchased a dog and it has CKC registration papers. Not Canadian kennel club but continental kennel club. I only really know about AKC but is it worth registering my up with this club or is it a push over club like American Pet Records.? It is a chihuahua pup.

- I have CKC dogs. They are great.
- I am not familiar with the CKC. I breed and all of my dogs are AKC, come from Champions lines and are champions, or working to become champions themselves . I guess if your breeder was a good one and really cared about the history of their dogs, they would have explained to you why they use the CKC. The CKC probably recognizes breeds that the AKC doesn't. I am not sure if they even have dog shows... which by the way were started so that breeders could showcase their best upcoming progeny and meet the definition of the standard for their breed. Ask your breeder these questions. They shouldn't be defensive about it. If they are ....well good luck with that? What breed?
- This Kennel Club is considered a bogus club and really is only used by BYB and puppy mills! It has no real standing within the dog world other than to say yes my dog is registered. They have no real standards other than they take your money. It is considered a bogus Kennel club!
- Push over club. Not worth the paper it is written on. Normally Puppy mills, or Back yard breeders that bred to an unregistered male do this. Or they purchased a dog from someone and it did not have papers but the ckc will take anything. So they have "papers". Love your pet. He is till worth something to you with or with out papers.
- Continental Kennel Club is the registry of many, many puppymills. When AKC clamped down on bad breeding, and made their registry more stringent, many bad breeders were kicked out, or simply choosed to move, rather than step up and meet the demands of the all mighty AKC. As a result, most of them moved on to continental. Considering that it really isn't that hard to meet AKC's standards, that tells you just how lazy they were.
- Omg I can not believe these people on here that believe that AKC is the Bible!!!CKC is just as good as AKC anytime.Registries are only as good as the people who use them.It is obvious that some of the people who only use AKC are so brainwashed and stupid, they only tell off on themselves and their character.Registries are used to HELP keep track of Ancestry and Blood Lines.AKC thinks they have all the answers but just because they started the practice doesn't mean they are the only ones who have rules and regulations.CKC is legitimate and have been around since 1994.Some people are just mad because they now have competition and the money hungry Club of the Century is not the only game in town.Call CKC and ask them what they think ,there are numbers on the Registration Papers for you to call.If you feel the need to Register your new pet ,Do it!These people on here are Nuts!!!As I said before the Club is only as good and decent as the members.Go Figure!!!Do you love your new Pet?? Is it what you wanted and are you in Love with it ???If so don't be disappointed by what these brain dead people are saying ,they are in denial and are loosing lots of money and the competition for CKC pups is great!!!!!!Not everyone wants to put their Dog in these costly shows and activites .That is basically what this is all about. Also AKC charges about 3 x's what CKC does to register.Do not fret your CKC dog is wonderful and don't let these jealous people tell you different. All CKC people are not Puppymills ???How retarted is that.Listen to yourselves !!!Talk about uninformed???What is a push over club???These are places that keep records ,keep track of what Breeders do,Dna Records and on and on How hard is that???Be happy with your new friend and companion!!!Good Luck !!!
- The CKC is fine. I have all my purebreds from that registry. I register the hybrids with the hybrid club just by using the CKC papers from the purebreds.
- Don't bother to waste your time or money sending in for papers from the Continental Kennel Club...The CKC is a bogus registry. It is a registry set up by irresponsible breeders and papers from here is worthless. No responsible breeder ever registers with this registry.
- Interesting who is supporting this registry.Hmmm..... The CKC is for breeders who have either somehow been kicked out of the AKC (mostly for unethical practices), or for those dogs that have been bred from questionable history, so they cannot be proven as purebreds to the satisfaction of the AKC. This is why they are called a "fake" registry. They register just about anything without proof of lineage. That fact can hide a whole slew of issues and scams
