Will 700x25 road bike tires fit on Alex S500 Rims?

I purchases a Specialized Allez a few months ago and was looking to replace the stock tires (Specialized Mondo 700 X 23) with some GP Continental 700 X 25 but wasnt sure if they'd fit on the rims (AlexRims S500). Will they fit? Are tires rim specific? Anything else I should know re: bigger tires?

  1. 700x25 tires will fit just fine on those rims. There is really very little difference in size between the 23 and 25.
  2. the second number is the width. 700x23 is just narrower than 700x25 but they are the same diameter. yes they will fit. you can use any 700c tire, but you have to watch going to big because of brake/frame clearences. example would be like a 700x32 likely will be too big to clear the brakes.
  3. in my experience I have had little problems with changing 25 for 23 or the opposite, but im not to sure and dont want to tell u something wrong. U should call up ur local independent shop and ask them what they think, just to double check.
  4. The size of tire that will fit on a rim depends on the size of the tire and size of rim. Any rim that has a diameter of 700c, sometimes called ETRO 622, will fit any tire with the same diameter. A 23mm or 25mm tire should fit on any 700c rim intended for road use. Larger width tires (e.g., larger than 28mm) will likely fit fine on the rim, but you may experience clearance issues between the tire and parts of your frame, such as rubbing on brakes or seat tube. Smaller width tires will also likely fit, but narrower tires will be more difficult to mount.
  5. They will fit these rims! you can fit bigger tires on a wheel but you can't fit smaller that normal
