Does anyone have a continental custard recipe?

A really good yummy one?! The kind that's a really pale yellow and very gooey? I'm having a bit of trouble finding anything useful. I don't want to make the dense yellow cr_ap that you get at supermarkets and bakeries. I want something spesh and the only person I knew who could make it has passed away and the recipe was in his head... Thanks in advance!
